feeling orange...

must be something in the air...autumn is hinting it's here...misty mornings when you can't see the hills, a sense of peace and calm after the heady summer days, quiet birdsong, flowers still colouring the garden...but seedheads and dry grasses filling up the hedgerows...change is afoot 

and C-art has been amazing again, 2 weekends done and one still to look forward to...been so great being with Ian and Steph in the studio once more...making art and conversation

and I've taught 2 lovely machine embroidery workshops too...can't beat a little bit of furniture moving in the middle of C-art!

Stephanie has been printing away...I love watching the process of her inking and mark making and playing with line and texture...

from all these bits and bobs somehow in Steph's hands... magic happens...

and in between talking to all the lovely people, drinking tea and eating cake... I have been able to play with fabrics, thread and stitch...and I am glad that textiles and machine embroidery is what I do cos it's much easier to clean up than paint!

happy? I should say so!

apres Woolfest...

so Woolfest is over for another year...and thanks to everyone who made it such a fab event...again! I had so many wonderful people visit my stall, friends and strangers, lovely feedback, lots of chat and made some good sales too...

 

so did you miss me?? I am sorry not to have been here for a while...somehow I just needed a breather as I put such a lot of energy into my stall ...but I was very pleased with how it looked ...a BIG thank you goes to husband of patience who painted everything white (and himself!) and to him and daughter mine for being the tech team setting up the stall...and she and I did the arty arranging, she always has such good ideas...

and I did get time out to look around too, daughter mine and I enjoy going round and shopping together...

celebrate...

60 years...not many folk have a job that last so long! well done Ma'am...tea and cakes...parties and pomp and people...dare I say the word bunting...celebrate today and each day...whatever and however you like...each day is a new day...create another 60 years...of fabric and making and fun...with lots of love in all that you do...

keep calm and keep sewing...

...Woolfest is now only a few weeks away and I'm sewing and making and trying to remain steady...keeping my fingers crossed...which can make sewing a leetle challenging...trying to blog and facebook and make business cards and design my stall and...make a few choice items to sell...

it's funny how pulling out one lot of fabric and starting to make and sew one item...leads to a studio full of...well it may look like chaos but it all makes sense to me....I think!

  

meanwhile the weather has been bright and sunny luring me out into the garden and along the road for fresh air...spring is moving into early summer, despite being cold the flowers keep coming...don't you just love May for the freshness and greenness and hopeful delights of early summer it brings...makes you just want to lie down among the frothy cow parsley and disappear from the world for a while...

so many simple wild flowers to see in the verges and hedgerows...

just remember.. there is all the time in the world...

 
and if you look carefully there's always something to makes you smile...

making ...the most of everything...

mm glorious sunshine...warmth...birdsong...roaming chickens and cats...a feeling of spring if not summer in the shorts and summery dresses and skirts in town...

where to be?? inside doing house'loving'...tidying...washing...washing up...admiring the dust collections...looking dimly through the streaky windows...or enjoying all that nature offers us in the great outdoors...doing VIP activities...ie. Very Important Paperwork and Planning and Tea Drinking...in the 'outside' office...with some beautiful books to savour as I plan workshops...all this in no socks or cardi...careful now...and please note the essential SUNSHADE!!

and a crafty moment or two in the studio...there's something sunny and Easter-y in the air...so I neeed to do some fabric playtime...

 

time to get out the cottons and flowery prints and ginghams and vintagey embroideries...to feel my way into creativity because now my wrist is getting much better...with healing going well...I have made a very wonderful discovery...I can SEW!! I can even thread a needle and use my hand to stitch a little...I can carefully cut a little...and as long as I don't overdo it I can use my patiently waiting sewing machine...it feels fantastic to be truly in touch with making again...even in a small way...happiness is in small things...
